WHICH DRINK TO CHOOSE COFFEE OR TEA

In fact, coffee and tea are good drink because both contain a lot of antioxidants. These antioxidants protect healthy tissue from free radical which can damage cell and cause disease. Therefore, popular belief that labels tea as a health drink and coffee as bad one is wrong. Antioxidants in all tea are flavonoids, wehereas coffee's antioxidants coumpound include quinines and chlorogenic acid. Cofee also contains trigonelline, an anti-bacterial compound that contributes to coffee's delicious aroma.

When choosing one of the drinks we can consider which drink, tea or coffee that has the most suitable benefit with your condition. For example, think about the health benefit of tea that are black and green tea may lower risk for ovarian cancer, green tea may reduce breast cancer risk, it is conclude that tea is the best choice for women. Other reason for women to choose tea instead of coffee is the possibility that caffeine can increase the risk of miscarriage. Coffee and tea containe caffeine, but coffee has a lot more of caffeeine than tea. Whereas a strong cup of coffee can provides 100 mg, 200 or even 300 mg of caffein, a cup of tea may provide only 20-60 mg. In other side, coffee has health benefits that are  lower the risk of liver cancer, colon cancer, Parkinson's disease, type II diabetes, and gout.

The jury is still out on whether or not coffee raises the risk of heart disease in some people. Research shows conflicting results, so more study is needed. According to the American Heart Association, one to two cups of coffee per day does not seem to be harmful. To be on the safe side, discuss caffeine intake with your doctor if you have heart disease or high blood pressure.

What about caffeine?

The caffeine content of coffee and tea vary depending on the size of your cup, what kind is used, and how it is made. An 8-ounce cup of brewed coffee has about 85 milligrams of caffeine compared to 40 milligrams in a cup of hot tea. It means coffee contains more caffein than tea. Coffee has about twice as much caffeine as tea.

Caffeine stimulates the brain and nervous system to cause that pick-me-up feeling. But keep in mind that caffeine is a drug and should be limited to avoid overload symptoms. If caffeine keeps you up at night, switch to decaf in the afternoon. A cup of coffee in the morning is enough to cheer you up. According to the American Heart Association, one to two cups of coffee per day does not seem to be harmful. But I am limited my self to a cup of coffee a day to avoid staying up at night.

New research links caffeine consumption with possible increased risk of miscarriage. So if you're pregnant, stick to decaf beverages and talk to your doctor about caffeine.

The Wake Up Call

We tend to choose coffee due to the higher caffeine composition that able to wake we up when we are feeling a bit creaky in the morning. In fact the caffeine dose is not the only single cause, perhaps our expectation also determine how alert we feel. One study found that coffee and tea left subjects feeling similarly alert later in the morning.

The biggest difference between coffee and tea may emerge when it is time to go to sleep. University of Surrey researchers found that coffee drinkers tend to find it harder to drop off to sleep at night.

So, we can decide that both coffee and tea are healthy beverage as long as we consume them in the right time and appropiate portion in the our health suitable condition.  The best choice is starting your day with coffee and ending it with hot tea. But we have to take care of any ingredient added to your coffee or tea such as sugar, cream, and flavorings. Be carefull, don't use them too much. The healthful calorie-free beverages are plain coffee and plain tea.  Only one tablespoon of cream and two teaspoons of sugar can add up to 80 calories and 6 grams of fat. Enjoy the cofee and tea in the right way, and you will take the most benefit of these healthful drinks
